National Coordination Centre, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), will celebrate the annual event “National Pharmacovigilance Week” from September 17th-23rd to make the public and healthcare professionals aware about the importance of adverse drug reaction reporting to improve patient safety.
The theme for this year’s National Pharmacovigilance Week is “Pharmacovigilance: A step towards Patient Safety”.
Healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and others are the backbone of the healthcare system who contributes for patient safety. Hence, IPC has decided to celebrate “National Pharmacovigilance Week” on the occasion of patient safety day with an aim to reach out to healthcare professionals common masses about the importance of reporting adverse drug reactions.
NCC-PvPI on behalf of the Union Health ministry urged all the healthcare professionals, marketing authorization holders, professional bodies, academic institutions and other stakeholders to celebrate it by organizing activities like conferences, debates, poster-oral presentations, quiz contests, essay writing competitions etc. in the area of pharmacovigilance at their respective organizations.
